I am deeply offended by what Ralph Peters has presented as a solution for "redressing the grievances of ethnic and religious minorities living inside large Muslim states". The modified map that he has presented in the US Armed Forces Journal is illogical and hypocritical. In plain and simple words, it is ridiculous and Peters has come forth as a man with foolish ideas and concepts. Truthfully, I didn't have the slightest idea what this man did or was but, I have no desire to find out any further than I have already come to know. Though, I strongly feel that he shouldn't have come up with such a scheme, moreover he doesn't have the right to. He, and other people, must learn to understand the meaning of freedom and patriotism. Promoting ideas such as the offending map further enhances miscommunication. Religion is more than just various sects residing in various countries. I am a proud Muslim and have complete faith in God. Which is why I practise what my religion teaches me, peace and bortherhood. And to separate Mekkah and Madinah as a super-Vatican ? Who gave him the authority to even think as such, for surely he is not performing Hajj/ Pilgrimage, neither The Pathans of the mighty Northern Western Frontier Province are happy to be a part of Pakistan. Balochistan is the largest province of Pakistan. Due to some foreign interferences, problems have occured in Balochistan but by God's grace Balochis have proved to be a part of Pakistan and have no complaints or deisires whatsoever to secede to form a new so-called "Free Balochistan." Gawadar, the mega city, is a matter of time by God's will. PAKISTAN is a FREE COUNTRY. We are free citizens. And we love our country. Islamic Republic of Pakistan is incomplete without NWFP and Balochistan alongwith the rest of the provinces. If people like Peters continue to promote such rubbish concepts then, what he is only proving is that HE doesn't love any nor HIS own country. I would like to add, Peters, so much about the " FREE Muslim regions and Global Ethnic Societies", what about Kashmir ? How did you fail to recognize Kashmir as a Muslim region. I am not saying to add another pure, Muslim majority area into your childish drawing, just curious as to why not ? This response by Mr. Zindabad displays the mind of our enemy. I surmise Note that Mr. Zindabad states "Who gave him the authority to even think Thank the FedsSubmitted by Elizabeth Gard (not verified) on Mon, 2006-06-26 11:13.
I want to thank Mr. Peters for giving his opinion in the post. I am an American who lived in Paris France for eighteen years. Now I live with my young sons as a single mother in Florida. Since returning to America I have realized how much I missed and love my country. |

In reply to Mr. Zindabad's comment, "Truthfully, I didn't have the slightest idea what this man did or was but, I have no desire to find out any further than I have already come to know. Beauty about America is that "We do have the right" and it's addressed in our Constitution...Called Freedom of Speech. I was a Marine Officer for 23 years with many years of experience in the Middle East as a Marine and as a private contractor. I carry wounds now that helped preserve the rights of our people. I may not agree with what is said, but I will defend to the death someones right to express thier opinions. I do happen to agree with Mr. Peters. I spent many years learning the language and studying the Arab culture.
Having spent many years in North Africa, Beruit, Egypt, Saudi, Kuwait, Algeria, Iraq and the UAE...I can tell you from personal experience, LtCol Peters is right on the money. After 9-11, I witnessed the street celebrations of the common people in the streets of a "Friendly" Muslim country. CNN aired similar celebrations throughout the Middle East. The problem with America is that we view other countries as we would like for them to be, not as they are. The Arab culture is rich in Nomadic, tribal customs. They respect strength and force but view compromise and diplomacy as weakness. It was less than a generation ago that King Abdul Aziz was unifying Saudi Arabia from the back of a horse/camel (approx 1944-1947). And a great man he was. Today the Bedouins still move about with a certain romantic freedom. If you want brief insight, read the "Kingdom of Saud". Take a look at the major cities in Saudi today.
Having said that....The 1st Non-Arab that says he understands the Arab mentality is the 1st in a long line of people that understand absolutely nothing.
Incidentally Mr. Zindabad..I also defend your right to have opinions...That sir is what makes us great.
God bless America and Semper Fi
