Origin of Banner Graphic

I did what many graphic designers have probably done at one point or another: search the Internet for images and recontextualize them into something completely different.

I wanted to a nature picture that demonstrated characteristics of Fibonacci Sequences and the Golden Mean, and I found this amazing page by Dr Ron Knott with lots of great pictures and information.

I took his picture of Romanesque, and remixed it into my banner above. I'm going to contact him and see if it is okay to use it on my site.

I think that there's an elegent mystery behind the mathematical patterns found repeatedly in nature like Fibonacci Sequences. The graphic is intended to be a metaphor for these types of mysterious interconnections within our Universe -- Journalism is so compartmentalized into reductionistic beats, and we'd have a much better press if they took a more organic and holistic approach to issues. A lot could've been uncovered before the war in Iraq if the State Department beats were talking more with the Pentagon and White House beats.

The Echo Chamber Project intends to accomplish a more holistic approach to journalism, and I hope this clearly communicated through a slightly obscured picture of Romanesque.
